2010 Classes for Managers - Descriptions & Dates

All manager classes are held at our Arvada Office.

Foreclosure Challenges:  What gets in the way of a successful association foreclosure and what you can do about it?
January 20 • 8:30 - 10:30 AM

The foreclosure process is complicated enough without monkey wrenches being thrown into the mix.  But what happens when this does happen?  We’ll discuss and identify the various “monkey wrenches” that can be thrown at associations when it comes to foreclosures, the effect of these monkey wrenches, and what associations can do to address them.

Collections:  What can boards and managers do to help the process?
February 17 • 8:30 - 10:30 AM

Because board members typically live in the associations, they may have certain knowledge that can help their attorneys collect delinquent assessments.  Managers also have knowledge by virtue of managing the community and getting to know some of their residents.  In this class, we will discuss what kind of information is helpful for collections purposes and how best to utilize it for the association’s benefit.

Unruly Meetings:  How do you manage meetings to make them as effective as possible?
April 14 • 8:30 - 10:30 AM

Whether it’s a board meeting or a membership meeting, sometimes things can get out of hand, especially when hot-button items are discussed.  How can these meetings be handled and managed?  This class will hone your skills for keeping meetings on track, silencing disruptive speakers, and obtaining results from your meeting.

Legislative Update - The year 2010 promises to have some new and exciting legislation coming our way!

June 16 • 8:30 - 10:30 AM

In this class we’ll review any changes to statutes affecting associations in Colorado and how these changes will impact management and operation of associations.  We’ll also discuss some significant court cases on state and federal levels that impact associations.

Creating Functional Boards

July 14 • 8:30 - 10:30 AM

Because there is no such thing as a “professional” board in the community association industry, boards are required to function in the dark, which often leads to dysfunctionality.    This class will focus on providing you the tools you need to set up a board that can function in the face of adversity and get the job done.

Three Ways to Get What You Want:  Assessment Liens, Covenant Violation Liens, and Sale of Liens
September 15 • 8:30 - 10:30 AM

The word “lien” is used quite a bit in this industry.  But this word takes on many forms and has many purposes.  In this class, we will focus on three different ways for associations to utilize liens to get what they need.  We’ll discuss different lien types and how each one can assist your associations.
