Whether you’re new on a board or simply unsure how a board functions, you cannot afford to miss this class.  We will discuss the basic information each director should know to be an effective member of the board.  We will focus on rights and duties imposed on directors by Colorado law and association governing documents.  We will discuss the basic functions of a board and the association it runs, including a focus on meetings, decision-making rights and duties, and fiduciary duties of the board.

Embezzlement of Association Funds: You Can Protect Your Association!

While embezzlement of association funds doesn't occur very often - it can rock the foundation of an association when it happens.  Regardless of whether your association is managed by a professional or is self-managed, this class will give you the knowledge and tools needed to:
  • Identify common ways that embezzlement occurs in associations; 
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place to prevent embezzlement;
  • Adopt appropriate policies to safeguard association funds;
  • Make certain your association has the appropriate insurance coverage in place to protect the association in the event of a loss.

Understanding your Governing Documents

This is a great class to help you decipher between the various types of governing documents and what the role is of each such document.  In this class, we will focus on the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and Declaration and discuss the need and utilization for each such document.

Covenant Enforcement Basics

This class focuses on the legalities and processes involved in enforcing your covenants (and rules).  We will discuss the importance of having a good enforcement policy and procedures in place and when to get legal counsel involved.  We will also discuss enforcement of rules and how this may differ from enforcing the covenants.


Registration is required for all classes.
