Small Association Avoids Large Judgment and Large Legal Bill
A 19 lot association was sued by a disgruntled homeowner for breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract and injunctive relief and THERE WAS NO INSURANCE coverage for the association. A week before a preliminary injunction hearing we were hired by the association and were able to avoid a preliminary injunction. This important win opened the door to a settlement where the upset owner paid a substantial portion of the fees incurred by the association. All of this occurred in less than 4 months! As a result of our fast, cost-efficient and favorable outcome, the Board President referred us to another association with pending litigation.
Melissa Garcia Awarded Educator of the Year
We’d like to congratulate Melissa Garcia on being awarded “Educator of the Year” by the Southern Colorado Chapter of the Community Associations Institute. Melissa was presented with the award during the Chapter’s annual Holiday Party held on December 4th.
The Educator of the Year Award is presented to the individual who excels in furthering CAI's mission of education through course development and instruction. Melissa was recognized for her class on social media which she presented during the Chapter’s HOA Law Day. The session focused on how associations can benefit from using social media and the risks associated with it.
